Awarded Projects
The Eagle River Fund
Overview
Funding awarded through the Eagle River Fund’s granting mechanism is intended to support work that increases streamflows, improves water quality, and maintains healthy water temperatures within the Eagle River and its tributaries. This work will focus on projects that benefit the water quality, water quantity, and natural infrastructure in the Eagle River Valley.
Pilot Project #1
Supporting the completion of the Eagle River Community Water Plan, published in 2024 was integral to the Fund's intention of implementing the work included in plans such as this. The Eagle River Community Water Plan process was initiated to develop proactive water management recommendations that anticipate changes to local hydrology and water demand, its completion resulted in the Implemetation Strategies resources that act as the "to-do list" for the Fund .
Pilot Project #2
The Eagle River Fund joined 7 additional project partners from local governments to a nonprofit collaborative, in supporting Phase 1 of designing and installing a water-wise demonstration garden at the Riverwalk at Edwards. Not only does this project advocate for pollinator-friendly cost-saving techniques, it also will lead to an estimated 80%+ in outdoor irrigation use at the site.
Pilot Project #3
Focusing on studies and planning work necessary for future protective projects on a popular angling reach on the Eagle River in Gypsum, this Trout Unlimited-submitted project meets multiple criteria listed in the Eagle River Community Water Plan (ERCWP), and the Strategy Implementation Work Plan Appendix to the ERCWP.
